Vermeer GB812 AXIS
|
The Vermeer AXIS guided boring system is a pit-launched trenchless installation method designed to achieve pinpoint, on-grade accuracy while eliminating some of the difficult steps associated with other installation techniques. A wide range of product pipe, sizing specifications, and other jobsite requirements can be met with the versatile capabilities of the AXIS system.
Precise On-grade Drilling
Benefit: This combination of laser and camera technology allows the AXIS system to achieve the precision tolerances demanded by on-grade installation.
Vacuum Excavation
Benefit: The vacuum excavation method utilized by the AXIS guided boring system eliminates the need to suspend drilling operations to manually handle spoil within the launch pit. Eliminating manual interface with excavated material can also provide a cleaner pit environment.
Installed Product Pipe Compatibility
Benefit: The AXIS system can utilize both rigidly constructed (pipe jacking rated), as well as fusible and restrained joint product pipe, thus giving project owners more product pipe options based on factors such as cost, traditional preference, and compatibility with existing systems.
Non-structural Pit Set-up
Benefit: With flexible set-up options and the ability to work from a rectangular pit, the AXIS system¿s footprint can be limited to one lane of a street, thus minimizing traffic disturbance. Due to limited thrust/pullback forces on the pit walls, the AXIS system reduces or eliminates the cost to construct a structural back stop or shaft within the launch pit.
Steerable Drill Head
Benefit: The ability to make slight steering adjustments enhances the AXIS systems versatility as changing drilling conditions are encountered.
Backreaming
Benefit: This method increases the AXIS system's versatility to install a wide range of product pipe diameters within the same base machine and drill casing size.
Cutter Face Tooling
Benefit: If varying ground conditions require a cutter face tooling change during the bore, the drill casing and head can be easily backed out to select a more efficient cutter style. The AXIS system drilling fluid pump delivers fluid with selected additives to improve drilling performance, spoil removal, and bore hole integrity.
Set-up Considerations
Benefit: The AXIS system can be configured in a number of ways to match jobsite constraints and accommodate customer preference for truck/trailer transport vehicles.
Specialized Drill Casing
Benefit: Drill casing is used to extend key features of the system the length of bore, such as laser-guided accuracy, vacuum excavation, and reverse directional capability for widening the range of compatible product pipe.
Operator Control Console
Benefit: The operator controls console is designed to centralize control of the drill rack and drill head, drill power unit, and vacuum into a simple, easy-to-use interface.
Falling object protective structure (FOPS)
Benefit: The FOPS provides overhead protection if drill casing or product pipe is dropped. The FOPS structure allows the crew to remain in the launch pit while casing or product pipe is lowered or lifted in the pit. The FOPS also provides an equal voltage work station with a slip-resistant, level, and clean floor.
